In the beginning ...

... there was DooM. And ID Software looked upon their works, and saw that it was good. But, they knew they could do better, and lo, unto all of the blessed gibbers Quake was unleashed, and we rejoiced! Knowing their work was not done, the tech-priests continued to toil and eventually the thronging hordes were thrust into the greedy maw of the pit that was Quake III Arena, and the first pro gamer (Fatal1ty) was born in the bloody carnage that ensued.

While the first server for game night at the shop that was ever run was for Quake, one of the most played games was Quake 3 Arena (well, that, and Unreal Tournament and finally UT 2004 :-)
